INSPIRED BY THE SHELBY COBRA CSX2001, READ THE STORY BELOW

Our Shelby American™ Collection is inspired by Carroll Shelby and his legacy of high performance vehicles.

CSX2001 was the first Cobra ever sold in 1962. Ed Hugus, the first Shelby dealer in Pennsylvania, actually completed the car, installing the 260 engine, a Borg Warner T-10 transmission and making it road-worthy. Ed purchased the first few Cobras giving Shelby some much needed cashflow.

After a couple of owners state-side, the car was modified to racing specs and then sold overseas to live a life of racing and rallying in Europe. Around this time, the engine was upgraded to a Weber equipped 289 and rack and pinion steering was installed. A no-so-attractive shell roof was also permanently fixed to the car.

CSX2001 returned to California in 2006 to undergo a full restoration. Finished in jet black, it wears the fitting race number ‘1’.

The details tell a story

It's a fascinating process, the building of a garment. It starts with fabric, cut into pieces that passes through many hands, stitched thousands of times and scraped with ink.

But in the end, it becomes greater than all its parts. It tells a great story of design, craftsmanship and passion.
